The unique shape provides hullprotection as well as a boarding step. The high topsides ofmany modern vessels make boarding difficult from either amarina finger or from small dinghies.

The combined fender andstep feature allow them to be rigged before entering a marina,allowing the crew to safely and easily step onto the pontoonwithout resorting to leaping.
